TEACHING

Jesse currently serves as Assistant Professor in Dance at Point Park University’s Conservatory of Performing Arts, specializing in modern dance studio practice, composition, somatics, repertory, and dance studies.

Invited teaching in the areas of studio practice, composition, and queer aesthetics include: American College Dance Association Festival, Carnegie Mellon University, Dance Exchange (DC), Franklin and Marshall College, Kennesaw State University, Molloy College/CAP21, National High School Dance Festival (NHSDF), Peridance Capezio Center, Sam Houston State University, Slippery Rock University, Rockford University, University of Texas at Arlington, and Western Michigan University.

Jesse became a certified teacher of the Martha Graham technique under the mentorship of Peggy Lyman Hayes and Virginie Mecene in 2010. While dancing with the Martha Graham Dance Company and Graham II, Jesse learned from many first generation Graham dancers. He has since served on the faculty of the Martha Graham School, returning to New York City frequently to teach technique, repertory, and composition at the Winter and Summer Intensives. As a regissuer for Martha Graham Resources, Jesse has staged Helios from Acts of Light (1981), Celebration (1934), Diversion of Angels (1948), Serenata Morisca (1917), and Steps in the Street (1936).

As a teaching artist for the International Schools Theatre Association (ISTA), Jesse has worked with High School students on collaborative movement scores, ensemble devising, and physical theater at international schools in Atlanta, Hong Kong, Istanbul, London, Moscow, and Shanghai. 

He has completed additional professional studies in dance pedagogy at the American Dance Festival, 92 St Y's Dance Education Lab (DEL), Movement Research, and Breath-Body-Mind practices through the Kripalu Center.
